There are lots of ways to describe this, but being in the now, or being in the moment are the most common ways, but what does it actually mean? The now, or the moment, it means going with the flow, or letting go of the past as well as so many other things. But if we put it in simple terms, it helps us to understand that this moment right now is all that we need, and the past is just something to learn from.
But understanding how to be in the now, and stay in the moment, is not necessarily the same thing. Understanding, and doing aren’t the same. But like everything else in life, it takes consistency.
If you think of the past, then you’re in the past. If you think of the future, then you’re in the future. but if you focus on right here and right now, then you’re in the now.
Some helpful reminders might help you to stay in the moment, such as asking yourself intuitive question to help you stay there. Such as: What can I learn from this? Or is this for now, or not now? Both of those types of questions to ask yourself regularly will help you to stay in the now. Understanding what you can learn from something will make you less likely to hold on to it. And understanding if it’s for now or not now can help you decide in the moment whether to try and understand something more, or let it go for now.
