First of all, let’s start of with understanding the difference between a spirit and a ghost in simple terms. Simply put, spirits are not earth-bound, they are from the spirit realm, and a ghost is a soul that is earth-bound in the astral realm, and is not in the spirit realm. So, a spirit is much higher in vibration than a ghost, because it either has always existed in, or has crossed over into the spirit realm after it the person died. A ghost is usually stuck in the earthly realm. In this post, I’m going to be talking about ghosts, rather than spirits in the spirit realm.
Here are the different types of ghostly beings that are around us…
Non-Conscious Ghosts
Residual Ghosts

Residual ghosts are ghosts that trapped in a loop, or in a cycle of repeat. They are unaware of what is happening now, and are unable to interact with us because they’re not conscious beings. They often happen at set times or dates, usually when the ghost or spirit passed.
Residual hauntings can mimic poltergeist hauntings in activity too sometime, but it usually passes once the cycle has ended. Activity usually includes feelings (positive or negative), sounds, such as walking or music playing, children’s laughter etc. When activity occurs, it’s usually only for a few seconds at a time.
Conscious Ghosts
Interactive Ghosts (Intelligent Ghosts)

These ghosts are sometimes friendly, and sometimes not. They can become visible; they can speak or make noises, touch you or even emit an odor like perfume or cigarette smoke, etc, to let you know they are there. They retains its former personality of when they were alive and can feel emotions. They may reach us by whispering in your ear, touching, and emotions such as sadness or anger.
Sometimes, they may even move objects, or open/close doors. In the majority of cases, an intelligent ghost is haunting the area for a reason. They may have died in that area, or may have enjoyed being in that area in life. They may be a visiting a person or possession in that area as well. To stop this type of haunting, it’s best to find out what why the ghost is there. Which can be determined by listening to spirit and trying to communicate. You may need to help them achieve what they are currently attempting to achieve to move on.
Ectoplasm Ghosts

This type of ghost looks like a mist or fog that almost looks like it’s swirling. This vaporous cloud usually appears several feet off the ground and can move swiftly or simply stay still – almost likes it’s orbiting.
Ectoplasm Ghosts appear before becoming a full-bodied apparitions. If you see an Ectoplasm Ghost, it’s probably because it’s just transitioning from Ecoplasm into a full body.
It’s in this form, or just before this form has materialised that you can feel rain drops on you, or it may feel like you’re breathing in mist if a spirit is trying to communicate with you that hasn’t yet materialised into this form
Poltergeist Ghosts

Poltergeist actually means “noisy ghost”, and they have the ability to move or knock things over, make noises and manipulate the physical environment. they make loud knocking sounds, turn lights on and off, slam doors, and even cause fires. Poltergeist activity usually starts out slowly and mildly, then begins to intensify. This is because they have to slowly build up the energy in the physical dimension.
Most people tend to write them off initially as the signs are small, but once they fully manifest you can’t mistake them. And while many times poltergeist activity is harmless and ends quickly, they have been known to actually become dangerous. These ghosts are the noisiest ghost of all types. Sometimes a poltergheist may cry, or shout. Poltergeists will not usually leave of their own accord, and may have to be forced out.
Funnel Ghosts (Vortex Ghosts)

This type of ghost isn’t usually seen, it’s usually felt like you’re in a cold spot, or feeling shivery, or sometimes you can get a warm feeling like you are being cuddled. They are also called Vortex Ghosts because they often look like a vortex and take on the shape of a swirling funnel like vortex. They are usually a loved one returning for a visit, or even a former resident of the home/area, and are usually seen in homes and ancient places.
They often look like they are wearing robes, or moving, or have a trail and are usually not completely visible (translucent). Funnel ghosts are not usually dangerous or harmful, and they’re rarely are found outdoors. Due to their weak ability, they are not usually dangerous or harmful, and they usually don’t cause much paranormal activity, and are a mild form of ghost compared to other types.
Shadow Ghosts (Shadow People)

Shadow people can be seen from the corner of your eye, and sometimes in full view. They usually lurk in the shadows and stay at a distance, hiding around corners.
They are usually quick to flee, and will run through a wall or into the darkness. They can be intimidating, negative, and they are not always human, and sometimes not even of this world. There are many types of shadow people.
Type 1
This type of shadow people are just ghosts without the ability to manifest enough energy to properly show themselves to you in full form yet. This is usually their second form of manifestation, after transitioning from the orb stage.
Type 2
This type of shadow people are the shadows, or essences of people who are having out of body experiences.
Type 3
Some of them are extra-terrestrials, and they are neutral and often observe people. Nothing can remove them, but if they do leave, it will usually be of their own accord. However, you can protect yourself from these experiences by keeping your vibration high, and practicing flow light into your home on a daily basis. Shadow people are different to spirits and ghosts in that they are dark in colour, this is because they lack light energy to illuminate themselves. They look like humans, but they’re not.
Type 4
This type of shadow people are interdimensional beings or entities that populate the earth, much like humans but in a different dimension or plane of existence.
Orbs

Orbs appear as a transparent or translucent ball of light. Orbs can be a number of things, including residual energy, static energy, and other types of energy.
But also, they can be the soul of a human or animal that has died and is traveling around from one place to another, before it can manifest into a ghost form, because this is the first state they appear in before they become a full-bodied apparition.
Demons

They are very misunderstood because of how they have been presented on TV and in films. They are not from hell, because hell isn’t an actual place.
They are not ruled by Satan either, because this character was invented by religion to cause fear within us, and it isn’t actually real either. But Demons are real, and they are powerful, and have more power and ability than ghosts.
They can inflict mental and physical damage and usually torture anybody unfortunate enough to come across them. They seriously injure and even kill people sometimes, although this is rare. They usually smell like sulphur, or smell of rotting flesh or rotting eggs. Demons are attracted to negativity, and places where negative things have happened. They often visit people with mental illness, including as depression and schizophrenia, as they feed off the humans negative energy and take advantage of them.
How Ghosts are created
Ghosts aren’t always in their form, they have to actually manifest into their current appearance. They have to actually go through a transition. Here’s how it works…

Stage 1: Orb
Before we see a ghost, it starts out as an orb. In this form it travels around to it’s chosen location.

Stage 2: Shadow Ghost
Before it can appear to humans it need light energy, but until then, it is seen as a shadow.

Stage 3: Ectoplasm Ghost
It can now be seen as ectoplasm in partial form.

Stage 4: Full Apparition
And finally, it will appeal in full appararition, such as a funnel ghost.
